Title deeds delivered to Mandela Park residents
18 June 2024
The City’s Human Settlements Directorate is on a mission to deliver title deeds to homeowners across the metro. On 15 June 2024, deeds were delivered in Mandela Park as part of the City’s title deed-to-door campaign, which focuses on finding beneficiaries and delivering their deeds, often to their doorstep. The City's Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim, and officials in the directorate were in Khayelitsha to hand over the deeds.
'I’m so excited to be here in Mandela Park and out in areas across the metro as we step up our efforts to find historic beneficiaries of City units who have never received title deeds. We've appointed a service provider to solve the more difficult historic cases. Title deeds prove ownership and are important for creating wills and applying banking loans, among myriad other financial transactions.
‘We encourage residents to get in touch with us so we can deliver deeds directly to their doors! We’re building on the success of last year’s Festive Deeds Challenge, where we delivered more than 1 000 title deeds to beneficiaries across the metro in just a few months. We are going bigger and better this time around and are aiming to deliver even more keys and deeds to beneficiaries across the city over the next few months. Let’s continue to Build Cape Town Together,’ said Councillor Pophaim.
